Donnie established Courtesy Auto Sales in 1976 with his father Donald Boucher, Sr. by borrowing $5,000 from Portsmouth Naval Hospital Credit Union as his starting cash. They sold inexpensive cars on weekly payments. They started out with one employee and now have 26, with 2 sales offices and 1 service location. Don continues to do Buy Here - Pay Here and indirect lending with banks and credit unions. Courtesy Auto Sales’ service department has 12 bays, 8 employees, and three state inspectors. He manages three finance companies, two of which are related finance companies. He has his own warranty company through AVP. The name and corporation have remained the same since 1976.
At Courtesy Auto Sales he values each and every employee, and he always says “Without them I could never have gotten this far”. One thing Don still believes is; the harder you work, the luckier you seem to get. His employees, friends, and family describe Don as a generous and caring man who teaches them that hard work, dedication, and honesty are essential to creating a successful business. "Don and the Courtesy Family exhibit the following traits: high integrity, sound financial management, focused client service, and honesty. Don and his employees live by these values and stay focused on their business model and its success" - Clyde Clark, Senior VP of Commercial Banking.
