President Tom Elliott presided as District 5 held its last
meeting of the association year.
Discussions filled the air on issues from who is providing floor
planning for independent dealers to new publications free to the public with
opportunities for independent dealers to advertise to the local consumers.
VIADA President Donnie Keene greeted the dealers, talked
about his year as president meeting dealers throughout the state, and
encouraged attendees to make plans to attend the upcoming 50th
Anniversary Convention and Expo at The Homestead.
Further discussions from the members included a letter from
DMV covering sales tax issues on rental vehicles, the need to keep a copy of
the inspection sticker in each deal jacket, the Social Security Number must be
used when filing Form 8300s, being careful of cashiers check scams especially
when the check is drawn for more than the sale price, the new Paragraph 9
revision that must be on all Buyers Orders.
Handouts were distributed that included the schedule for
dealer recertification classes, Red Flag and Address Discrepancies Rule Check
List, new registration fees, Print on Demand and how it works, temporary
permission to drive form, and new VIADA member benefit providers.
