President Tommy Woodson presented an information packed
meeting featuring sponsor Josette Furjanic of PassTime/Frazer. She spoke about PassTime
that allows dealers to locate vehicles when customers do not pay and Frazer
software package that helps dealers keep the dealership accounting formatted
for ease in retrieval of information that will help them track their current
financial status.
Speaker Janet Garrett of the Motor Vehicle Dealer Board
reported a few new interpretations of the dealer code that may impact dealers
during future inspections. A
question/answer session followed the presentation giving dealers the
opportunity to seek additional information in order to stay compliant.
Pete Iaricci of
VIADA discussed the Red Flag Rule and the progress of dealer
recertification. He further reported of
a recent district court case lost because the buyers order had two purchaser
signatures at the bottom of the contract but only one signature on the AS IS
statement. DMV recently revised the
permission to drive form without VIADA having input. A meeting with the Commissioner and his staff
resulted in an agreement to rework the form and reduce the size.
